According to a forecast by Cisco, by 2015 the Internet will be carrying 1-ZB (Zettabyte) of video data, which is 1,000 Exabytes. Just one Exabyte amounts to 36,000 years worth of HD-TV video, or the equivalent of streaming the entire Netflix catalog, not once but some 3,200 times! It would take more than five years to watch the amount of video that will cross the Internet in a single second.
The total magnitude is almost impossible to comprehend. If the 11-ounce coffee cup on your desk contains 1-Gigabyte of data, 1-ZB would be the equivalent of the Great Wall of China.
As well, at least 10% of the video will be consumed via mobile devices.
